How Tony Fernandes Ended Up Doing The Apprentice Asia

Sheer persistance and determination on the part of the producers of The Apprentice Asia led to Tan Sri Tony Fernandes signing up as host of the new reality series which premiered on AXN last night.

"I was impressed by the determination of the producers and AXN," explained Dr. Fernandes, the Group CEO of AirAsia, at the press conference for The Apprentice Asia recently. "They kept hounding me to do it. I got to hand it to them; they really wanted me so I said OK."

On the show, Tony has to fire one of the 12 candidates on a weekly basis. In reality, he admitted that he is "not very good at firing people".

"Even on the show, I struggle with it to be honest. But the show is making me better. In AirAsia, I fired a couple of people the other day, in fact one by email, it's not the best thing in life to do," he said.

And in case you are wondering, Tony and his advisors, Mark Lankester and Kathleen Tan, are not involved with coming up with the tasks on the series.

"They are generally sponsored so you have to read out what the sponsor wants to say," Tony revealed. "So, I'm hoping there's an AirAsia task then I'll say, "F*** you and I'll read what I want." It's really difficult to really follow exactly the comments. But it's also good for me because when I was in the music business, the artistes would complain about doing endorsements, now it's poetic justice. I know what it feels like to get it right."

Twilight, The Vampire Diaries And Taylor Swift Lead Teen Choice Award Nominations

The first round of Teen Choice Award nominations is out and from the list, it looks like Twilight, Taylor Swift and The Vampire Diaries are hawt faves.

Breaking Dawn Part 2 has an impressive seven nominations while The Vampire Diaries has five. Taylor Swift nabbed three nods.

Also getting multiple nominations this time are movies Iron Man 3 and Les Miserables plus small screen hits Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars and Revenge.

The 2013 Teen Choice Awards is scheduled to take place on 11 August.

Paris Hilton To Release Second Album Soon

It's been so long since her debut album -- 2006 to be exact -- one wonders if people even remember that Paris Hilton has a music career!

But all that is about to change as Paris has just signed with Cash Money Records and she says that she is about to drop her second album soon.

Cash Money's Birdman tweeted: "Welcome@ParisHilton to tha Family. RichgangRichgirl. YMCMB (sic)." Naturally, Paris responded in kind. "@BIRDMAN5STAR Thanks BO$$! Happy to be a part of the family. #PH? YMCMB (sic)."

According to Showbiz411, the new album will be different from the first one, which featured Stars Are Blind.

"[The new album] is a lot different than my first album. It's really going to be house music," she told them. Presumably, this is inspired by her DJing stints around the world.

And in case you were wondering if people actually bought Paris' album, (titled Paris), the album has sold some 200,000 copies in the US alone.

Are You Ready For The Viper?

Viper Challenge is the organisers of Asia’s biggest ever obstacle event and they will be participating in the Putrajaya Youth Festival 2013 with a series of exciting events and challenges. Slated for 23 to 26 May 2013 at Persiaran Perdana in Putrajaya, this event is a must-go for every youth around the globe.

In the past years known as the One Million Youth Gathering 2011 and Millions of Youth Gathering 2012, Putrajaya Youth Festival 2013 will feature about 500 events to attract visitors both locally and internationally.

The festival is a celebration of the National Youth Day. The goal of this event is to develop the potential, creativity as well as uphold the unity and integrity among youths.

“Viper Challenge is excited to be a part of the Putrajaya Youth Festival as we believe that fitness and healthy competition is a big part of the 1Malaysia for Youth spirit,” said Selva Kumar, the Event Director of the Viper Challenge. “Participants will be truly amazed at the one-of-a-kind course at the Viper Arena and we are greatly looking forward to a vibrant air of competition and excitement as so many personalities attempt the unique course in front of large cheering crowds.”

The main Viper Challenge is in August and will feature a 20 km course built within the Sepang International Circuit, but the organisers have constructed a mini version of the course for the Putrajaya Youth Festival, dubbed the Viper Arena. The course is made up of seven unique and challenging obstacles set over just 100 metres that will test the strength, fitness and co-operation of all the participants.

If you’re not excited enough yet, the Viper Challenge organisers will invite local celebrities, media personalities, radio DJs and TV hosts to take on the course and compete against one another for the top honours. Make sure you’re there to cheer for your favourite ones.

Justin Bieber Not In The Good Books Of Jon Bon Jovi

Justin Bieber is not a popular guy with certain people. Take Bon Jovi as an example. He definitely did not have nice things to say about the Biebs.

Not a Belieber. That's for sure.

While on tour in Europe, the Livin’ On A Prayer singer was asked by the London Evening Standard about Justin not being punctual to his own concerts and guess what? Jon did not hold back telling on his opinion of the 19-year-old.

He said, “Every generation has guys that do that, none of that is new. They run the risk of disrespecting their audience members who have worked hard to pay for their ticket, to give you the permission to take two or three hours of their lives, or in that kid’s case, 80 minutes of their lives.”

He added, “Do it once, you can be forgiven. Do it enough times and shame on you. They won’t have you back. Then it just becomes a cliché. It’s really not cool.”

Manage your time better, Justin

We really hope Justin takes Jon’s statement seriously. After all, Jon’s successful career has lasted for more than three decades. Justin should really learn a thing or two from Jon.

Adam Levine Invites Shakira For Bikram Yoga Sessions

Adam Levine is well-known as being a “ladies’ man.” Being good-looking, talented and successful, also helps boost his profile, which is why when he allegedly invited his fellow coach on The Voice Season Four, Shakira for some Bikram yoga sessions with him at his home, it set Shakira’s baby-daddy, Gerard Pique on edge!

For your knowledge, Bikram yoga, which Adam practices a lot, is a form of yoga done in a very hot and humid temperature.

While Adam and Shakira both love yoga, Gerard is concerned that Adam might be taking a chance on his lady. In a move that seems to be in response to that piece of information, the footballer kissed the Hips Don’t Lie singer publicly and on camera at a football game in Spain, as though telling every man out there to back off from his woman.

“His message was unmistakable to Adam or anyone else who might have designs on his woman,” said a source to PerezHilton.com.

The source continued saying, “Adam taught Shakira some moves and vice versa. It was a great, sweaty experience.”

Adam is reportedly not putting the moves on Shakira, since she is not his type. “Adam says he’s just been helping Shakira lose some of her stubborn baby weight,” the insider said to PerezHilton.com.

Justin Bieber Donates To Elementary School

Kudos to Justin Bieber for giving back to society. He made a surprise visit to the Whitney Elementary School in Las Vegas recently. He was there to hand out food donations and donated US$100,000 to the school. On top of that, he made the children even happier by giving them US$100,000 worth of toys.

Justin’s visit to the school was to promote the Child Hunger Ends Here campaign, and celebrate the school’s principal Sherrie Gahn’s effort to improve the lives of the poor students.

Before arriving at the school, Justin tweeted, “Surprising someone very special and fixing some things with #childhungerendshere.”

“(Growing up,) my mom and I went to food banks. So being able to help now is amazing. I just want to make people happy,” Justin told Today of the visit.

He spent some time with the students and imparted words of wisdom to them – “listen to your principal and the teachers and always try your best.”

Justin later added to his Twitter, “Thanks to Whitney Elementary and Sherrie for letting me come by again. Love u guys. U inspire me.”

Prince William Looking Forward To Fatherhood

Prince William and Kate Middleton will be welcoming their first child in July. Will chatted about the birth of his first child when he and Prince Harry officially opened a new recovery centre for injured service personnel run by the charity Help for Heroes.

According to The Telegraph, Corporal Josh Boggi asked the Prince, “ Are you looking forward to it, Sir?” To which, Will replied, “Very much so but all the mothers have been looking at me (and telling me), ‘Just you wait (for the) long, sleepless nights.’”

When asked what advice Corporal Boggi would give Will, he said, “I would say enjoy every moment of it. It’s been the best experience of my life having a little boy,” referring to his two-year-old son, Jenson.

Sleepless nights?

We have no doubt that Prince William will be a good dad. He has already proved that he wants to be a hands-on dad. Will is planning on being in the hospital room when the baby is delivered and he is even going to take a leave from his job in the military to be home.

It’s been two years since the ruckus the Wolfpack created. Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms) and Doug (Justin Bartha) are happily living uneventful lives at home. The last they heard about disaster-magnet Leslie Chow (Ken Jeong), is that he had been tossed into a Thai prison and, with him out of the way, the guys have very nearly recovered from their nights prowling in Las Vegas being kidnapped, shot at, and chased by drug-dealing mobsters in Bangkok.

The only member of the Wolfpack who’s not content is Alan (Zach Galifianakis). Still lacking a sense of purpose, the group’s black sheep has ditched his medication and given in to his natural impulses in a big way -- which, for Alan, means no boundaries, no filters and no judgment until a personal crisis forces him to finally seek the help he needs.
