Ashton Kutcher Going Into Outer Space, Literally

Bound for space, the final frontier
Bound for space, the final frontier

Richard Branson announced on his blog that Ashton Kutcher bought the 500th ticket on the Virgin Galactic, the ship destined for the edge of space.

"Our 500th future astronaut customer has just been signed up! Even better news is that number 500 is Ashton Kutcher. I gave Ashton a quick call to congratulate and welcome him," said Richard. "He is as thrilled as we are at the prospect of being among the first to cross the final frontier (and back!) with us and to experience the magic of space for himself."

Virgin Galactic will fly out high enough for its passengers to experience weightlessness and see the curvature of the Earth.

Other celebs who have booked their tickets for the trip are Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Katy Perry. Apparently, Jay-Z and Beyonce are also thinking of getting on board.

In case you're wondering how much it costs to get a seat on the Virgin Galactic SpaceShip Two rocket plane, also known as the VSS Enterprise, it's a cool US$200,000. That's not a problem for Ashton since he reportedly makes US$700,000 per episode of Two And A Half Men.

Test flights are expected to begin this year with commercial service possibly starting next year. To see what the spaceships look like, go to the official website.
