Well, apparently, after a supposedly ‘off-tune’ performance by Taylor Swift during the recent Grammys, Borchetta felt the need to defend the singer by shifting the blame elsewhere, saying, “This is not American Idol. This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note.”
That’s enough to send Kelly Clarkson over the edge. Just hours after Borchetta’s attack, Kelly rebutted in a blog entry stating that while she understands Borchetta defending Taylor, she found his remarks on the show “upsetting”. “We not only hit the high notes, you forgot to mention we generally hit the ‘right’ notes as well,” she said.
Ouch. But that was not all. Kelly had more to say. “Every artiste has a bad performance or two and that is understandable, but throwing blame will not make the situation at hand any better. You should simply take a breath and realise that sometimes things won’t go according to plan or work out and that’s okay,” the American Idol Season One winner said, admitting that she too had her share of shaky performances.
Although I am considerably a fan of Taylor Swift, I do have to agree with Kelly on this one. $h!t happens, and whether Taylor gave a good or bad performance at the Grammys, nothing changes the fact that she’s a great musician and singer.
