| Brad Pitt To Sink Fangs Into Dracula Movie |
| Vampires are all the rage these days so it is only fitting that the original movie vamp Dracula makes a comeback. And who better to bring the story of Dracula to the forefront than hugely successful vampire player (Interview With The Vampire la) Brad Pitt! According to industry reports, Brad is said to be in the running to produce the film called Vlad, which is written by British actor Charlie Hunnam. Brad to vamp it up. Yahoo! The period film introduces a young Vlad (who later became known as Vlad The Impaler) and is the figure head from which the original Dracula story by Bram Stoker was based on. Summit Entertainment who gave the world Edward Cullen, according to the Hollywood Reporter will collaborate with Brad Pitt's production company, Plan B, on the film.
However Brad will not be playing the part of the young prince. His is a strictly behind the scenes effort. According to the reports Summit wants to break a new talent for the role, so fans can expect a new heartthrob to salivate over.

| Just because Edward Cullen is a drop dead gorgeous vampire, pun intended, does not mean every single vampire that comes after Twilight has to be drop dead gorgeous as well. Vlad the Impaler is said to have a very distinctive face which far from being called handsome. Dracula is very iconic and possesses all the traditional vampire traits: vicious, brutal, frightening look, sleeping in the coffin and all that. When people should open up to all new ideas on modern vampires like those from Twilight or Vampire Diaries, original vampire character like Vlad Dracula should not be changed into another Edward Cullen. Therefore 'a new heartthrob to salivate over' idea should not be what Summit or Brad Pitt has in mind when they're looking for a new talent to play Vlad. |

| Ruth I agree with what you said and yes, when the movie about Vlad is made, it's not all about turning Vlad into another Edward Cullen. Nor is it about having a new heartthrob to go nuts about. Any Dracula fan would tell us that Vlad is not supposed to be good looking but he is meant to embody evil, viciousness and ugliness inside and outside. Let's hope that the makers would retain what Bram Stoker had worked so hard more than 100 years ago to create a literary masterpiece called Dracula. To make a movie about Dracula is not about raking in the big bucks or displaying the new Hollywood hunk but it is all about retelling and retaining the original elements taken from Bram Stoker's greatest horror fiction ever. |
