Newsweek Slams Oprah Winfrey!

Someone's going to pay for this!
Someone's going to pay for this!

Wow! Someone is, finally, brave enough to take on Oprah Winfrey. Dissing Miss O in public? That's kinda blasphemous, isn't it?

Newsweek magazine took a swipe at the talk show queen in their latest issue, suggesting Oprah uses her clout to promote health remedies that could be dangerous to the viewers.

As we all know, one of Oprah's favourite topics is on health issue (the other being weight-loss).

Obviously, Oprah had to defend her own show. In a statement, she said, "For 23 years, my show has presented thousands of topics that reflect the human experience, including doctors' medical advice and personal health stories that have prompted conversations between our audience members and their health care providers. I trust the viewers, and I know that they are smart and discerning enough to seek out medical opinions to determine what may be best for them."

Our hats off to Weston Kosova and Pat Wingert for their courage to write the article. No one, I repeat, no one (not even the President of USA) would dare mess with Godprah, I mean, Oprah.

Eminem Admits His Stunt With Bruno At MTV Movie Awards Was Staged

The truth is out: Eminem has confessed to RagRadar.com that his much talked about close encounter with Sacha Baron Cohen’s nether regions on the MTV Movie Awards was a rehearsed stunt.

Eminem: I can be serious... and I can be funny too

“Sacha called me when we were in Europe and he had an idea to do something outrageous at the movie awards,” Eminem said. “I’m a big fan of his work so I agreed to get involved with the gag.” Fancy that! “I’m thrilled that we pulled this off better than we rehearsed it. It had so many people going nuts, so to speak,” he continued.

Sacha as Bruno: I am so busted, aren't I?

So, what exactly happened after he stormed off the stage after the incident? “After the ceremony I went back to my hotel and laughed uncontrollably for about three hours. Especially after I saw it on air.” He sure had a lot of people fooled. Anyway, watch the prank (if the censors don’t cut it out that is) they pulled off at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards next Friday, 12 June at 8.30pm on MTV.

When the result was announced after almost 100 million votes were tabulated, Kris looked shocked when his named was announced. That was genuine folks.

"I'm always surprised, man. For me, making it through each week -- everyone is so talented, and, I don't know, to make it through each week is crazy," the newly crowned winner told Entertainment Weekly right after the final results show.

The laidback, modest singer appreciated not being the frontrunner because he likes being the underdog. "That's kinda who I am, and having the spotlight on me would've been weird."

But before you think he's Mr. Perfect and all, he did reveal a couple of little flaws he has -- he procrastinates and he's "not the cleanest person in the world".

Hmmm, wonder if roomie Adam Lambert had any issues with his cleanliness?

Runner-up Adam only wishes Kris well. "I'm so happy for him. He deserves it. He's so talented, and he's a good person."

Oh, if you're wondering about Adam's sexuality, don't bother. When asked point blank about it, he only had this to say: "I think speculation keeps things very, very interesting." Way to keep people guessing, Adam!

Paula Abdul Kicks Painkiller Addiction

“Withdrawal – it’s the worst thing,” she says. “I was freezing cold, then sweating hot, then chattering and in so much pain, it was excruciating. But at my very core, I did not like existing the way I had been.”

She went on to say that she wore a patch that delivered pain medication about 80 times more potent than morphine! According to the mag, dancing injuries, a car crash in 1992 and a plane crash in 1993 all contributed to the chronic pain she suffered over the years that she kept suppressed with the extra strength medication.

Before you go, ‘A-ha! That’s why she was loopy on American Idol in years past,’ Paula, 46, claims she never filmed an episode of the show while under the influence. Still, doesn’t she seem more focused on the show this year than ever before?

In any case, if you’re keen to see Paula Abdul in action on stage again, check out the American Idol results show airing tonight on Star World. She performs her new song, I’m Just Here For The Music.

Golden Girl Passes Away

In the day when young women were fashion victims to shoulder pads and legs warmers the Golden Girls was a must-watch TV event. The Golden Girls was like the equivalent of Desperate Housewives and Lipstick Jungle, minus the sex and sleaze. It was great, clean fun and totally entertaining. Which is why it is sad to note, that Bea Arthur – the tall, strong-willed, deep-voiced actress of the show – passed away today from cancer. Bea was 86.

The Golden Girls. Thanks for the memories
The Golden Girls. Thanks for the memories

Even though Golden Girls was a show about older women (they were all retirees) young women got it, and loved it. It was a girl power thing and Bea was a poignant player in bringing feminism to the forefront, having already played a liberal women in her earlier show Maude. Bea was 50 when she was discovered for TV so in a lot of ways, she proved that in Hollywood age sometimes really doesn't matter.

The Emmy-award winning actress was also not afraid of being typecast. In a line from an interview published by the Associated Press it summed up Bea's gusto. “Look – I'm 5-feet-9, I have a deep voice and I have a way with a line. What can I do about it? I can't stay home waiting for something different. I think it's a total waste of energy worrying about typecasting."

George Lucas is planning a TV version of Star Wars and Zac Efron says he wants to be part of the plan. Yes, the teen heartthrob wants to be young Skywalker.

It all started when Zac visited the sci-fi genius' California mansion and toyed with his Star Wars props. FYI, Lucas' home was part of the film location for Zac's latest outing, 17 Again.

"There were real stormtrooper outfits, real memorabilia from the movie," gushes Zac. "There were a lot of valuable things we were wrecking in that house. That element, that nerd part of the film, is right up my alley.Young Skywalker? Yeah... Bring it On!"
