Kellan Lutz, best
known for his portrayal as Emmett Cullen in the Twilight Saga has
decided to join the fashion foray by collaborating with Dylan George
founder, Danny Guez to design a ready-to-wear menswear line called Abbot
+ Main. The collection includes t-shirts to knitwear.
To promote the Spring 2012 collections, he visited a San Diego
department store, Nordstrom Fashion Valley and made girls swoon when he presented white roses to the crowd of screaming fans.
The Hollywood
hunk said: “I love to create. I’ve always wanted to get into fashion.
I’ve always liked drawing, not Space Age stuff but high fashion.”
Who knew Kellan is into sketching high fashion stuff? Can you tell from the macho characters he portrays in movies?
A new advertisement for Miu Miu starring Hailee Steinfeld has been banned by the U.K.’s Advertising Standards Authority.
Apparently the organistaion received a complaint about the ad glorifying youth suicide. The ASA rejected the complaint but noted that the ad does depict “a child in an unsafe location.”
Of course Prada, who owns Miu Miu, maintain that there is nothing wrong with the ad since the child in question, Oscar-nominated Hailee, “could have easily moved from where she was sitting because she was not restrained in any way.”
The ASA didn’t buy Prada’s argument though and have yanked the ad in question.
Rihanna is taking a small step into the world of fashion designing by collaborating with Emporio Armani to design a capsule collection for the label.
The collection includes jeans, t-shirts, jackets and lingerie. Rihanna is the face for both Armani Jeans and Armani Underwear.
One of the t-shirts feature Rihanna's R logo on top of the Emporio Armani eagle logo while the other t-shirt has the outline of RiRi's face over an animal print background. Jeans come in two cuts -- skinny and "boyfriend". There's also sexy lace lingerie in the collection.
The pieces star selling in Emporio Armani stores and online at armani.com in December.
Unlike Beyonce's sexy TV commercial which was also banned a while back in the U.K., this banned Dakota Fanning perfume ad is a print ad in a magazine.
The Britain's advertising standards watchdog says that it seems to sexualise a child and could cause serious offence.
According to the Associated Press, four readers complained about the Marc Jacobs Oh Lola! advertisement which shows the 17-year-old actress in a short pale dress with an oversized perfume bottle that looks like a vase holding a giant red flower between her legs.
Looking younger than she is
Apparently, it's not so much about the ad being sexy as it is that she looks like she is below 16 and sexy. "We consider the ad could be seen to sexualise a child," it said. Where the bottle is positioned makes the ad sexually provocative.
The perfume maker says they have not received any complaints and the ad is targeted at readers over 25 years old. What's more, the company says that the image is not indecent although it is provocative.
Marc Jacobs chose Dakota because he says she could be a contemporary Lolita.
What do you think? Does she look too child-like for comfort in this ad?
The duchess who wears McQueen rejects the devil who wears Prada
What Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief for U.S. Vogue, wants, Anna Wintour gets (have you not seen The Devil Wears Prada?). But there's always a first time for everything.
Word has it that Anna has been trying, quietly, to secure Kate Middleton for the cover of Vogue. She enlisted the help of famed photographer Mario Testino to persuade the Duchess of Cambridge to pose for the magazine. Mario, a close friend of the late Princess Diana, was picked to shoot the official engagement photo of Prince William and Kate Middleton earlier this year.
However, Kate has rejected this offer.
"The duchess will not be doing anything with U.S. Vogue or any publications for the forseeable future," a royal rep said. "She has only ever given one joint interview (on her engagement day with Prince William) and that was for television to be shared between the networks. There are no plans for her to undertake anymore interview at the moment."
French label Lacoste has picked Korean hotties Yunho and Changmin, from the group TVXQ, to be its new brand ambassadors.
"We have decided on TVXQ because we believe that they have the power to increase sales and we have plans to expand Lacoste on a more global level," an official from Lacoste France was quoted as saying.
The boys attended Lacoste creative director Felipe Oliveira Baptista's first collection fashion show in New York recently and then posed for a fashion shoot while visiting the Big Apple.
For those who don’t know who Kistie Alley is, she is a vivacious American actresss who played a major role in TV series Cheers and has starred in many TV movies and was also featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show several times.
Plus-size Kirstie recently did the catwalk on New York’s Fashion Week wearing a creation by Malaysian fashion designer Zang Toi. Apparently, Kirstie and Zang Toi have been friends since 1993.
Regal blue but a lil too much cloth, dontcha think?
Kirstie's catwalk, which was the last item in Zang Toi’s fashion show in New York's Lincoln Center, provided the perfect finale to the sometimes exotic and colourful presentation which earned the Malaysian designer a standing ovation from fashion critics, media and buyers.
Kelantan-born Zang Toi, who has designed clothes for Hollywood stars like Sharon Stone, Eva Longoria, Fergie, Heather Graham, the late Farrah Fawcett, Ivana Trump and Melinda Gates, has made a name for himself in the New York fashion scene. “His timeless and uncompromising designs pamper women with elegance and glamour,” Sheila Joseph, an American fashion expert, said in an interview with Bernama after the show.
Another creation by Zang Toi
Zang Toi’s collection this time was inspired by the rich Afro-Arab influences. One desert silk gazar linen goddess coat was bordered with 23K gold leaf. Another one was a desert silk mousseline linen mini dress with draped gold chains. “It's about North Africa and my memories of Marrakech (in Morocco)," Zang Toi explained his latest collections. He also stitched his strong message of peace on his designs that read: 'Make love, not war'.
We’re really proud of Zang Toi. Zang Toi boleh, Malaysia boleh!
It looks like not everyone got the same memo when it came to the dress code for MTV's Video Music Awards which was held yesterday at Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
Shanghai surprise!
You can trust Katy Perry to bring the fun to fashion at award shows. At the VMA, she showed up in a cheongsam-inspired dress by Atelier Versace. She completed her look with a paper parasol!
Confuse much?
Eighteen year-old Miley Cyrus, unfortunately, picked an outfit that made her look older than her age. The Roberto Cavalli dress is also confusing -- leopart print on the top half and floral print on the bottom. Girl, decide already!
Elegant meets eccentric
Talk about yin and yang! Beyonce looked amazing in an orange one-shoulder gown by Lanvin while Nicki Minaj was just plain silly in this ensemble.
