Glee Star Lea Michele Not Pretty Enough For TV
It is hard to imagine that Lea Michele who famously plays starlet Rachel Berry on Glee was once considered ‘not pretty enough for TV.’ Before landing her star making turn in Glee, Lea was a struggling actress who was often told that she wouldn’t make it in Hollywood because she didn’t have the right look.

Luckily for Gleeks Ryan Murphy (the show’s creator) wasn’t of the same opinion. Lea reportedly revealed that Glee was the first audition she ever went on and that Ryan, whom she had met while working on Broadway in New York had written the part of Rachel with Lea in mind. Good thing Lea didn’t let anyone telling her she couldn’t stop her from giving up her dream!

The Vampire Diaries books and TV show focus on Elena Gilbert, a high-school student caught in a love triangle with vampire brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore. Smith wrote the original Vampire Diaries books in 1991 and 1992, and the TV series premiered in 2009, earning large audiences and winning seven Teen's Choice Awards and a People's Choice Award in 2010.

Stefan's Diaries, the prequel trilogy, will delve into the troubled back story of the feuding brothers. According to a press release: "In a story set during the Civil War, against a backdrop of grand estates, unimaginable riches, and deadly secrets, Stefan and Damon fight for the love of the same woman, Katherine, in a torrid love triangle that will span eternity."

The trilogy's first installment, Origins, will be released on November 2. Bloodlust, the second title, will follow on January 4.

L. J. Smith is already at work on another Vampire Diaries spin-off trilogy, called The Return, which focuses on Damon. The final installment in that series, Midnight, is due out on March 15, 2011. AFP Relaxnews

Steven Tyler Joins American Idol As Judge

Meet the new American Idol judge
Meet the new American Idol judge

The Fox network isn’t commenting but The Hollywood Reporter and Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton both confirm that Steven Tyler has been signed to American Idol.

Steven is expected to join the production in time for the judges hitting the audition cities next month. Apparently, unlike Jennifer Lopez (who asked for over US$20 million), Steven asked for far less money.

And even though J. Lo’s asking price is exorbitant, her deal has not gone sour yet despite reports to the contrary. Nevertheless, reports indicate that country singer Shania Twain, who was a guest judge and mentor on Idol last year, is also in talks.

Anyway, here’s what Tom the bassist had to say about Steven’s new gig:

“Steven is doing American Idol. The ink is dry on that. So, we’ll have to work around his schedule for a new record... Steven is someone who absolutely lives to be in front of an audience and the people closest to him know how witty and entertaining he can be. I don’t know if American Idol will be rock ‘n’ roll enough for him, but it is an opportunity for millions of people to see another side of Steven Tyler."

“About to do my first shot of the day for Glee tweeties! Here we goooo!” – Britney said on her Twitter page about nine hours ago. She kindly attached a picture an hour later (seen above, and that girl with her is her assistant Brett Miller) with this tweet: “what’s up GLEEKS? Having so much fun on set!! Can’t wait for you guys to see the episode! – Britney”.

Her role is still a mystery on the most part but she will kinda play herself according to reports.

Show creator Ryan Murphy told People magazine recently that he wanted to dedicate an entire episode to Britney because “she is arguably the most important female, other than Lady Gaga, of the last 10 years”. Also, he found out that “all the kids on the show, many of them went into singing and dancing because of her.”

Yay, Britney!

True Blood Stars Get Naked And Bloody

Blog photo

So you may have heard that the latest season of HBO series True Blood is particularly violent. And to prove a point, Rolling Stone magazine got stars Stephen Moyer, Anna Paquin and Alexander Skaarsgard to bare all and have them covered in blood – er, fake blood of course – for their latest issue.

In the cover story, True Blood creator Alan Ball talked about vampire sex: “To me, vampires are sex. I don’t get a vampire story about abstinence. I’m 53. I don’t care about high school students. I find them irritating and uninformed.”

Stephen also offers his theory on what makes vampires so attractive: “If we go from a base level, vampires create a hole in the neck where there wasn’t one before. It’s a de-virginisation... creating blood and then drinking the virginal blood. And there’s something sharp, the fang, which is probing and penetrating and moving into it. So that’s pretty sexy.”

Whoa! “Plus, Robert Pattinson is just hot, right?” he adds with a laugh.

Britney Spears To Star In Glee!

Another reason to look forward to the new season of Glee.
Another reason to look forward to the new season of Glee.

More good news for fans of Glee! Creator of the hit TV series Ryan Murphy has confirmed that Britney Spears will guest star in an episode of Glee in the much-talked about Britney/Brittany episode (set to air in the U.S. on 28 September).

Murphy told Ryan Seacrest in an interview: "Britney, I think 100 percent, is going to be on the episode."

In another interview, Murphy also revealed the plot of the Britney/Brittany episode. "The fun thing about the episode, how we're doing it, is all the Britney Spears numbers are fantasies. They have fantasies about how they can be like her."

Sounds fun alright. It is reported that Heather Morris who plays the ditzy cheerleader Brittany in Glee will get to sing for the first time in this episode.
